When you submit personal information to us, the term “us, our, we, me and I” includes various ministry websites, including brokenheartonhold.com, lindarooks.com, and bunnysideofeaster.com. You can contact all of the above described ministries at linda@brokenheartonhold.com . The contact person for all three of our websites is Linda Rooks. The contact person is also appointed as our data protection officer charged with the responsibility of monitoring our adherence to GDPR Regulations
Our Privacy Policy
This privacy policy is a legal agreement that explains the type of personal information we gather from website visitors, how we use this information, and how we keep it safe.
Types of Personal Information We Collect
We collect your contact information including email address, city, state and country of residence. We collect identity data, including your name, gender, and marital status. We collect information about your circumstances, including any information you disclose about your marriage and personal circumstances as well as your personal marriage stories as you relate them to us. We collect your preferences in terms of what information you want to receive from us; and we collect historical transaction data, including your communication history and interactions with us.
How We Collect Personal Information
We obtain personal information about you through direct interactions when you sign up for our newsletters, send me an email, contact me directly in any other way, or otherwise give us your personal information. If you ask for spiritual or marital advice, I may respond to you with spiritual guidance and support and retain both the information you sent me and my response to you so that I might continue to help you in future communications. The information you disclose is completely at your discretion.
Referral by other ministries: Your name and contact details may have been passed to us by another ministry that believes we can help you in your marriage situation.
Demographic information is collected by cookies through Google Analytics. For those who subscribe to Heart Talk, Feedburner collects your email address so it can send Linda’s Heart Talk blogs to your inbox.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We use your information to send you newsletters, to understand your needs and concerns that you have for your marriage, to provide you with better services to meet those needs, and to send out updates about our ministry including information about new books, media appearances, speaking engagements and other ministries that can help you in your particular situation.
We do not share or sell your personal information with any other person, website, or organization, and any information contributed by you is kept in strict confidence and is not shared with anyone outside of the above disclosed ministries.
Two exceptions to the above are: 1) in Linda’s writings and ministry, she occasionally uses unidentifiable information sent to her to help others. If you have freely and voluntarily sent unsolicited information to her, she may use certain unidentifiable facts or segments of stories to illustrate or support a point in her attempt to help others in similar situations. But in these cases, names and identifying information will be changed or excluded unless permission is obtained. If you object to her using this unidentifiable information for this purpose, you may opt out by emailing lindarooks@embarqmail.com and putting “Personal Data Request” in the subject line. Then explain how you want the personal information sent to her to be used and not used.
2) Another exception is that if we first have your permission, we may ask our team of prayer partners to pray for you. We have a team of prayer partners each of which were personally selected by Linda Rooks based upon a personal relationship and a thorough understanding of the prayer partner’s level of spiritual maturity. If you ask for prayer, we might ask your permission to share your personal marital situation with one of these prayer partners to solicit their prayers for you and give you an additional significant source of spiritual support for your marriage. But we will always ask you first for permission. You always have the right to say no. If you say no, we will not share any of your personal information whatsoever with any person other than the ministry stated above.
We need to disclose to you that while our contact person described above is in charge of the marriage ministries connected herein, she is not a licensed nor professional counselor. Even though she has had many years experience in ministering in marital situations similar to this ministry and has written books in the area of marriage ministry, she is not a professional counselor and at no time should her advice be considered as though it is coming from a professional counselor.
How Long We Keep Your Information
The information you choose to send to us is kept indefinitely in a designated file so we can respond to you in future communications in a way that will be most helpful to you and your marriage or until you ask us to delete it.
Accessing Personal Information
You have the right to access, update or request removal of your data. You do not have any direct or indirect access to data storage pertaining to you, although you may opt out or delete such data by dealing with our contact person.
To submit a request to access, update, correct, or delete your Personal Information, please email lindarooks@embarqmail.com and put “Personal Data Request” in the subject line. Then describe how you want us to address or alter the use of your Personal Information. After receiving your request, we will confirm by email that this is really you and that you want us to take this action. After confirmation from you, we will begin processing your request and respond within 30 days.
Cookies and Automated Technologies
We have access to cookie technology based upon the fact that we use Google Analytics to identify demographic information about the visitors to our websites. Through Google Analytics, when your computer or mobile device connects with our web servers, information is collected about how visitors navigate our websites.
